Are you a City of Spokane homeowner with a damaged water or sewer pipe between your house and the utility connections in the street? The City's Utility Pipe Rehabilitation Program may provide the help you need. The program offers low-interest loans to assist qualified property owners in repairing or replacing damaged water and sewer lines, providing an affordable solution.
Property owners within the City of Spokane's utility service area with an Area Median Income (AMI) of 80% or less can apply for the program. The loan repayment are conveniently included with your monthly utility bill statement, easing financial strain while making crucial repairs.
Crushed, broken, or leaking side sewer pipes. Corroded, leaking, misaligned water service line pipes. Water pipes that are identified as "galvanized requiring replacement" by the Environmental Protection Agency. Private sewer or removal of a septic system can also qualify.
The loan program covers excavation, necessary on-site rerouting of plumbing and associated repairs. It includes materials such as new pipe, fittings, valves, and appurtenances and connection to City sewer and water main pipes. Street, curb, sidewalk and landscape repair, along with permit, tap and meter fees are also included.
A property owner or the City can refer the property owner to the assistance program. A program administrator will manage the application and loan process.
This program not only helps individual property owners protect their investments but also benefits the community at large. Properly maintained sewer and water lines prevent pollution and ensure clean, safe water for everyone.
