Public Safety Officer of the Month

Today, Eric Gaines and Jeff Ford were honored as the Public Safety Officers of the Month for their outstanding contributions to the community. The recognition took place at the Lone Star College-Tomball Beckendorf Center during the First Friday Luncheon presented by the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce. Their dedication to our community and exemplary service have earned them this well-deserved title. Eric Gaines has truly embodied the spirit of Tomball and the dedication of Public Works through his exemplary leadership over the past few months. He has been at the forefront of emergency responses during major events, including the May 2 heavy rainfall, Derecho windstorm, and Hurricane Beryl. Eric's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the city and its residents is unmatched. He led his team in clearing drainage, managing road closures, removing trees, and coordinating emergency responses, all while handling logistics for key city events like Tidy Up Tomball, Second Saturday, and the July 4th Celebration. Eric's readiness to tackle any emergency that comes our way is a testament to his dedication and professionalism.

Jeff Ford has distinguished himself and his team through the successful upgrades at Jerry Matheson Park. His oversight included the construction of a new splash pad, fencing replacement for the baseball field and pool area, development of a pickleball court, expansion of the parking lot, and comprehensive landscaping improvements. Beyond these achievements, Jeff has demonstrated leadership during our busy summer storm season, responding to downed trees, debris, flooded streets, and road closures, all while maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of City parks. His commitment to enhancing our community's recreational spaces and ensuring their safety and accessibility during challenging weather conditions is a true reflection of his dedication to Tomball.
