Pursuit in Claremont Ends with Crash

CLAREMONT, N.H. - On July 9, 2024, at approximately 10:27 p.m., Trooper Michael Gilboy of the Troop C barracks was traveling westbound on Washington Street in Claremont when he observed a vehicle in front of him failing to maintain its lane. It was also discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Harrisville earlier in the day. Trooper Gilboy activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but the operator refused to do so and a pursuit was initiated.

As the operator fled, he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the roadway and crashed. The operator was subsequently arrested without further incident, and identified as Anthony Wilson, 26, of Keene, NH.

Wilson was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon for minor injuries sustained during the crash. He was released on bail and ordered to appear on July 22, 2024, in Claremont District Court on charges of disobeying an officer, reckless conduct with deadly weapon (felony), receiving stolen property (felony), aggravated DUI, operating after suspension, and reckless operation.

Troopers on scene were assisted by the Claremont Police Department, Claremont Fire Department, and Golden Cross Ambulance. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Michael Gilboy at (603) 223-4381 or via email at [email protected].
