The Minister for Foreign Affairs, João Gomes Cravinho, chairs the VI Ministerial Meeting of the Angola-European Union Joint Way Foreward, on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
The meeting will take place on Sunday morning, with a particular focus on regional and international political issues and EU-Angola cooperation priorities for the period 2021-2027, including in the areas of trade, investment and diversification of the economy.
On the same day, the Portuguese MFA will have a bilateral meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Téte António, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of the Portuguese Republic and the Republic of Angola for direct support to the Angolan state budget, aimed to contribute to the restoration and equipment of the Fortaleza de S. Francisco do Penedo in Luanda.
On his trip to Angola, Minister João Gomes Cravinho will visit on Saturday the Lobito Corridor, a strategic trans-African infrastructure linking the south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Northwest of Zambia to regional and global trade markets via the Port of Lobito in Angola. The development of this structuring project is supported by the European Union's Global Gateway strategy, and it is under the responsibility of an international consortium that includes a Portuguese company.
On the same day, in Huambo, the MFA will also take part in the ceremony to lay the first stone of the Caála Logistics Platform. The event will be attended by the Angolan Minister for Transport Ricardo Viegas de Abreu, and the Governor of Huambo Province, Lotti Nolika.
