Man To Be Charged With Voluntarily Causing Grevious Hurt

The Police will be charging a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

On 3 August 2024 at about 2.35pm, the Police were alerted to a fight along Geylang Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 40-year-old man had allegedly assaulted a 67-year-old man. The 67-year-old man was conveyed conscious to the hospital but passed away due to his injuries on 19 August 2024. The 40-year-old man was subsequently arrested by the Police in relation to the case.

The 40-year-old man will be charged in court on 22 August 2024 with voluntarily causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine or caning.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
