Get into the holiday spirit with Advent blessing, Masses

The Advent season begins on Sunday, Dec. 1. Campus Ministry and other university offices have events planned to welcome the season with open arms.

Sunday, Dec. 1

  • Mass for the first Sunday of Advent | 6 p.m. at the Church of the Gesu

Monday, Dec. 2

  • Advent wreath blessing | Noon in the Alumni Memorial Union rotunda
    • Hot chocolate bar and cookies will follow the blessing

Tuesday, Dec. 3

  • Christmas tree lighting | 5 p.m. in the Gratitude Garden
    • Hot chocolate and cookies will be served after caroling and music
  • Mass for Simbang Gabi and celebration offered by the Bayanihan Student Organization | 6:15 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Family

Thursday, Dec. 5

  • Liturgical Choir Lessons and Carols concert | 7 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms

Friday, Dec. 6

  • Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass and fiesta dinner | 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Family
    • A free Mexican dinner will be served in AMU 227 after Mass

Sunday, Dec. 8

  • Mass for the second Sunday of Advent | 6 p.m. in the Church of the Gesu, 9 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Family

Monday, Dec. 9

  • Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Masses | 7:30 a.m., noon and 9 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Family; 7 a.m., 12:05 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the Church of the Gesu
    • This is the Patronal Feast of the United States and is a holy day of obligation
