The IRU-accredited Zhengzhou TIR Logistics Hub, the third of its kind, has now added a new route to Kazakhstan to its catalogue of destinations. Zhengzhou is the capital of the inland province of Henan.
The truck set off after completing its export customs declaration and TIR procedures at the hub, before exiting China through the Khorgos border crossing and arriving in Almaty.
The entire 4,000km journey took only five days. The route from the hub saves 30% in costs compared with air and 50% in time compared with rail.
IRU-accredited TIR logistics hubs, of which three have opened this year, consolidate all necessary transit services under one roof: customs clearance, warehousing, cargo handling, route development, and transport-capacity matching. They offer a one-stop shop for TIR transport companies, customs services and supply chain players.
The hub's managing company, Tuopu, highlighted that the Zhengzhou-Almaty TIR transport route is an important breakthrough following the opening of the hub, further facilitating trade between inland China and Central Asia.
