Syracuse, September 22, 2024 - Acea, a leading industrial group in the water sector and one of the top operators in energy and environmental services, is present with a stand at the "Divination - Expo 24" exhibition on the island of Ortygia from September 21 to 29, in the context of the international G7 event on Agriculture and Fisheries.

This event provides an opportunity to emphasize the importance of water for the economic and social development of Italy, with a particular focus on the use of water resources in agriculture. For Acea, the country's leading water operator, sustainability is integrated into every aspect of its business, especially in the water sector, which is essential and strategic in the current historical context. The company plans to invest €4.7 billion in the water sector by 2028.

At the Ortygia stand, equipped with LED walls, Acea representatives present thematic corners showcasing the Group's projects: from PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) works in the water sector to the application of artificial intelligence in managing increasingly smart infrastructures. Additionally, visitors can take a virtual tour of water treatment facilities and infrastructure through the use of VR headsets.

Acea's presence at the G7 in Ortygia underscores the industrial strategy of the company, led by CEO Fabrizio Palermo, which has recently secured the contract for managing the integrated water service in Syracuse and 19 other municipalities in the province. Acea will oversee over 2,000 kilometers of water network serving 166,000 users, along with 1,300 kilometers of sewer network serving 390,000 residents. The concession will last for 30 years.

The company is also committed to promoting a new culture of water that encourages greater awareness and responsibility in resource consumption.

Finally, Acea has signed an agreement with Italian international banking group Intesa Sanpaolo to develop collaborations aimed at protecting and reusing water resources, including in agricultural settings. This partnership involves investments in the reuse of treated water within so-called "water communities", positively impacting the environment, local areas, and businesses by stabilizing their water supply. To this end, Intesa Sanpaolo will allocate up to €20 billion to support initiatives from companies and operators in the water supply chain, while Acea will leverage its expertise to identify new system-level initiatives, providing innovative solutions to promote efficient water use through technological advisory services.
