Construction of the $14.5 million clubhouse has commenced at Halcyon Horizon - Stockland's first land lease community designed for over 55s in the Geelong region.

Halcyon Horizon is an all-electric community located in Armstrong Creek, around 13 kilometres from Geelong and close to Torquay's surf coast, as well as around a five-minute drive to Stockland's masterplanned community, Banksia.

The clubhouse is a leisure and recreation precinct that will include a Gold Class-style cinema, social alfresco area, pickleball courts, resort-style outdoor pool, indoor swimming pool and spa, and a wellness precinct with a fully equipped gymnasium, sauna and steam room, and beauty salon.

Once complete, Halcyon Horizon will comprise 234 architecturally designed homes with a 7-Star energy rating and 3.9-kilowatt solar system as standard.

High speed electric vehicle charging stations will be installed throughout the community for homeowners to use, and homeowners can also book a shared Tesla car and community bus.

Geelong's Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken joined Stockland and some of Halcyon Horizon's first homeowners to celebrate the start of construction of the clubhouse.

Stockland General Manager Halcyon Victoria, James Westh, said today marks an important milestone for the Halcyon Horizon community.

"The clubhouse will provide resort quality facilities within walking distance of each home, and we expect it will become a central place for homeowners to connect with new friends, keep fit, or relax," Mr Westh said.

"As awareness of the Halcyon lifestyle grows, more buyers are interested in the high quality, low maintenance living our communities are renowned for. People want to enjoy a rewarding lifestyle with luxurious facilities that create connected and thriving communities.

"These communities are an attractive option to those over 55 because it can allow them to bank a portion of the equity when they sell the family home. The benefit to the wider housing market is that they are downsizing and are often freeing up that larger home for a family looking to upgrade," Mr Westh added.

The clubhouse will be built by local Geelong builders, Plan Group, and is anticipated for completion in mid-2025, subject to weather conditions and construction progress.

Halcyon Horizon is one of Stockland's five land lease communities in Victoria:

  • Halcyon Berwick, Halcyon Evergreen, and Halcyon Jardin in Melbourne's southeast
  • Halcyon Highlands in Melbourne's north
  • Halcyon Horizon in Geelong
