TRAFFIC FATALITY - SPRING STREET AND STUDEBAKER ROAD

Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a collision that occurred on Oct. 16, 2024, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

At approximately 10:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Spring Street and Studebaker Road regarding an injury traffic collision.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had struck a utility pole. Officers then located a female adult driver inside the vehicle.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle. Long Beach Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures, and determined the driver deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2024 BMW 440i was traveling eastbound on Spring Street at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then lost control and collided with a utility pole.

At this time, speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.

The identity of the driver is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
