ERIE, PA- Erie County is pleased to announce the start of the 13th season of the Our Neighbors' Place Seasonal Overflow Shelter, a vital initiative providing shelter for those experiencing homelessness. This year, at the direction of County Executive Davis, the shelter will operate out of a single, centralized site instead of the rotating locations used in past seasons. This change, driven by the need to better serve Erie County's chronically homeless population, reflects a new, cohesive approach to addressing homelessness within the county.

This season, Our Neighbors' Place (ONP) will be located exclusively at the Community Resilience Center, 450 E 16th St., Erie, PA 16503. With the support of Erie County, our partner churches, dedicated volunteers, and EUMA (Erie United Methodist Alliance) staff, this single-site model will enhance the shelter's ability to offer consistent services and resources in one location, simplifying access for those in need.

As an overflow shelter of last resort, ONP will provide shelter to those unable to find space in other facilities throughout Erie County. Operating with a maximum capacity of 50 guests, ONP will open each evening at 7:00 PM, offering a warm meal, shower facilities, and safe sleeping accommodations. Compassionate volunteers and EUMA client advocates will be on-site to welcome guests and connect them with essential resources and support services.

The success of ONP is a testament to Erie County's commitment to supporting its most vulnerable residents, with the centralized site marking a significant step forward in the county's effort to serve the homeless more effectively. This unified site allows Erie County to focus its resources in one location, facilitating a more comprehensive response to pressing community needs.

Members of the press are invited to visit ONP at 12:00PM on Wednesday, November 13, for a media opportunity. Representatives from both Erie County and EUMA will be available for interviews and to answer questions.

To respect the privacy of guests and volunteers, we request no media presence at the shelter's opening at 7:00 PM.
