The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved in its entirety the draft law No. 12104, aimed at specifying the grounds for granting deferment of military service during mobilization. 304 people's deputies voted in favor of it.

Among the important changes is the granting of the right to defer mobilization to those whose close relatives are missing persons and to civilians released from Russian captivity.

At the end of October, during a meeting with civil society representatives, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a letter of request from relatives of released prisoners regarding the possibility of introducing a deferment of mobilization for this category of Ukrainians.

The Head of State instructed the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Iryna Vereshchuk, to consider this issue. Last week, she met with representatives of human rights organizations and relatives of detained civilians, during which they developed wording for amendments to the relevant draft law. The members of the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine discussed the proposed amendments and voted in favor of them during the meeting.
