Children, young people and families on Orchard Park will soon be able to access further support thanks to significant investment.

Hull City Council is using £525,000 of government funding to enable the refurbishment and expanded use of the former Courts Community building within the grounds of the Parks Family Hub on the estate.

The project will provide the opportunity to develop effective multi agency co-working and co-location, which supports and assists local children, young people and families.

It will also enable engagement with trusted professionals and appropriate support throughout the day, as well as on evenings and weekends, creating a 'community hub'.

A range of other partners across the area will be supported as a result, such as the voluntary sector, health partners and the police, contributing to aspects of the Hull Community Plan 2024-28 such as Safe and Welcoming Neighbourhoods, A Healthier and Fairer Hull and Reaching Our Potential.

Youth activities which complement other work in the area will be introduced by providing positive alternatives to some of the anti-social behaviour present in the area, targeting those 10-17 years and up to 25 if SEND.

It is also aimed at having a positive impact on low or non-attendance within education, thus improving children's outcomes and life choices.

Cllr Linda Tock, portfolio holder for children's services at the council, said: "This investment into Parks Family Hub is crucial to support families in the north of the city and an important investment to develop a building where demand for services is high.

"We are excited about the fantastic opportunity and resource this will bring into the area to support children, young people and families."

Refurbishment and expansion works will begin shortly with a view to being completed in 2025.
