Researchers and research staff encouraged to apply for CTSI affiliate status

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is now accepting applications for its affiliate researcher program. Applications will remain open indefinitely and can be submitted online.

The CTSI strives to create and sustain a collaborative network of clinical and translational scientists at Penn State while increasing accessibility to the institute, one another, the University research infrastructure, and communities across the commonwealth. Advantages to affiliate status include:

• Internal and external recognition for CTSI involvement;
• Expanded access to CTSI resources & increased contact with core CTSI personnel;
• Interdisciplinary opportunities for research and community outreach;
• Broader platform for research efforts and dissemination; and
• Enhanced support for manuscript preparation and internal/external funding applications.

The affiliate program is open to Penn State community members from all colleges and at all campuses. To be eligible for affiliate status, prospective applicants must be a faculty member, postdoctoral scholar, or research staff within Penn State who conducts translational research, which "translates" new knowledge into health benefits through collaboration and across a variety of scientific disciplines.

Becoming an affiliate to the CTSI provides an opportunity to build valuable connections, increase access to valuable resources, and further enhance the mission of the institute.

"This program connects with commonwealth faculty and translational researchers to more efficiently support them with resources at Penn State CTSI and promote team science endeavors and meaningful collaboration," said Wilson Brown, associate professor of clinical psychology, psychology and clinical psychology master's degree programs at Penn State Behrend and faculty lead for the program. "Becoming an affiliate to the CTSI provides an opportunity to build valuable connections, increase access to valuable resources, and further enhance the mission of the institute."

Accepted affiliates are expected to participate in annual programmatic evaluation and may volunteer to review up to two intramural or extramural funding applications per year.
