BRADFORD, PA / OLEAN, NY - Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), are excited to announce the July 2024 Star Award winners. This month's winners are Carly Cataldo, BRMC, and Mary Jo Inzana, PT, OGH.

Carly Cataldo, a lead ultrasound tech and a team member since October 2019, received the July Star Award at BRMC.

"Carly is so wonderful with her patients. Her kindness and personalized interactions with each patient she encounters is witnessed on a daily basis. She always introduces herself, explains the test, and lets them know how long the test is going to take, but she does so much more. Carly puts her patient's minds at ease with her kindness by creating a comfortable environment and treats them like she has known them forever. You can always hear Carly laughing with her patients. By the time that she is walking them out, they truly seem like old friends, as they're smiling and wishing each other well," said Carly's nomination. "There are far too many patients that have expressed how much they loved having Carly as their ultrasound tech."

Mary Jo Inzana, PT, an inpatient physical therapist, was presented the July Star Award at OGH. Starting in 2006, Mary has been with the organization for over 18 years.

"Mary Jo is an inpatient physical therapist who has worked at OGH for about 18 years. She's known as the energizer bunny and goes above and beyond for everyone. One of her defining traits is her advocacy for patients as well as her communication and education of patients and their families to understand the next steps in their process. Her documentation is thorough and helps justify for a patient to get into a facility or to go home," said her nomination. "She's very compassionate and treats her patients as if they're family and has been complimented by many. As a recent family member stated, Mary provided wonderful, caring patient therapy for our dad."

The Star Award is presented monthly to an employee who demonstrates outstanding performance and inspires the same in others. Staff are nominated for exceptional customer satisfaction, continuous performance improvement, teamwork, communication, ownership/accountability, and excellence through co-worker or patient nominations.

The following were also nominated for Star Awards at BRMC: Becky Moreth, Pavilion; Michael Strotman, emergency department. OGH nominees were: Cindy Dushaw, RN, 3rd floor; Briana Munday, EVS; Katlin Sikes, RN, float pool; Tyler Stady, IT; Sue Yaeger, 2nd floor.

Star award recipients receive a chamber of commerce gift certificate, additional paid time off, certificate of recognition, the star award parking spot and special recognition at the 2nd Annual Pulse of the Community Gala happening on Friday, September 20 in Ellicottville.
