Attorney General Ford Honored by National Bar Association with O.T. Wells, Sr. Leadership Award

Carson City, NV - The National Bar Association has announced that Attorney General Aaron D. Ford will be honored with the O.T. Wells, Sr. Leadership Award at the Association's 99th Annual Convention & Exhibits in Las Vegas.

The award is a tribute Ozro Thaddeus "O.T." Wells Sr., a lawyer whose distinguished career involved work with civil rights organizations, the Department of Defense, and consulting for U.S. Attorney General Elliot Richardson in connection with the Watergate scandal. Between 1972 and 1973, Wells served as the president of the National Bar Association, the oldest and largest national association of predominately African American attorneys and judges.

"I am honored that the National Bar Association has chosen me as a recipient of this award," said AG Ford. "This organization is one of the most important and impactful legal groups in the country, and to be honored in this way is a distinction that I am proud to receive."

Along with AG Ford, other National Bar Association award recipients include Nevada Congressman Steven Horsford, Las Vegas Raiders President Sandra Douglass Morgan, House Minority Hakeem Jeffries, and President & CEO of the NAACP Derrick Johnson, among others.

The National Bar Association was founded in 1925 by 12 Black lawyers in Des Moine, Iowa after being denied membership in the American Bar Association. Their aim was to establish a national network of Black lawyers committed to pursuing equal justice under the law. The organization now represents approximately 66,000 members of the legal profession.
