On 30 July 2024, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs discussed with H.E. Mrs. Sibille de Cartier d'Yves, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Kingdom of Thailand, in occasion of Ambassador's paying a farewell on completion of duty.

On this Occasion, The Thai side expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for her friendship and her active role in promoting cooperation between Thailand and Belgium throughout her tenure across all areas including political, economic, cultural, educational cooperation as well as people-to-people links. Such work has yielded numerous substantive outcomes, such as the high-level bilateral dialogue between the two Prime Ministers, the growing number of investments from the Belgian private sectors in Thailand, the resumption of direct flights between Bangkok and Brussels, and the promising progress in the negotiations of Thailand-EU FTA.

During the farewell call on H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Vice Minister took the opportunity to congratulate the Ambassador for her new appointment as a special envoy of the Sahel region and expressed his appreciation for the Ambassador's role in strengthening relations between Thailand and Belgium in all dimensions.

Both sides also discussed key global and regional issues, including situations in Myanmar, Ukraine, and the Middle East, with both expressing their commitment to continue working towards promoting peace building across regions.

On the same day, H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, also hosted a farewell lunch in honour of the Ambassador.
