Oklahoma State University alumnus and Oklahoma native Josh Crutchmer will present the fall 2024 commencement speech on Dec. 14.

Crutchmer graduated from OSU in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. He immediately got to work after graduating, building his journalism career by creating and designing content for eight significant media outlets.

"Since graduating from Oklahoma State, I have made a life out of processing, covering and sharing the news that shapes the world we live in," Crutchmer said. "Every day, I fall back on the education and support I found right here at OSU. I hope members of this class of 2024 find my experience and perspective to be a source of excitement and hope as they set out to shape the same world."

Beginning in the the Daily O'Collegian newsroom, Crutchmer started forming his journalistic passions editing the sports column. Now, working for a globally renowned newspaper, The New York Times, Crutchmer plans and organizes international news reports into the classic newspaper format.

While studying at OSU, Crutchmer began documenting the local Red Dirt music scene originating in Stillwater. He has continued to report on this topic, with his most notable story featuring the recently united band - Cross Canadian Ragweed - and the upcoming 2025 Boys from Oklahoma concert.

"I am humbled and overwhelmed in the best way possible at the invitation to speak to this graduating class, and I am grateful to Dr. [Kayse] Shrum and our administration are thinking of me," Crutchmer said. "We all have a day of reflection and celebration awaiting us, and I am looking forward to it almost as much as our graduates."

All ceremonies in Stillwater will be held inside Gallagher-Iba Area. There is no ticket required as well as no restriction for the amount of people attending the ceremony. The doors will open one hour prior to the commencement ceremony for guests, and graduates should arrive 30 minutes prior.
