Coggin Executive Programs provides leadership training for public health service officers annual symposium

The University of North Florida's Coggin College of Business Executive Programs hosted a workshop for commissioned corps officers at the 57thAnnual United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Symposium last month in Jacksonville. This leadership and training symposium is the largest annual gathering of USPHS officers.

The "Inclusive Leadership: Fostering Innovation" workshop was designed to equip the officers with essential leadership skills and received an overwhelmingly positive response from participants.

"The UNF Coggin Executive Programs workshop was informative, fun, interactive and 100% applicable to leaders at all levels," said Jacqueline Rychnovsky, executive director of the Commissioned Officers Foundation, PhD, CAE. "The course was filled with resources that all leaders can use the minute they get back to their duty stations. The framing was one filled with optimism and motivation for all attendees."

The customized, interactive workshop covered the core principles of inclusive leadership and its pivotal role in driving innovation within the public health sector. Participants explored strategies to foster an inclusive environment that enhances communication and encourages innovative thinking. Through interactive learning, discussions and hands-on activities, participants gained valuable skills that will make an immediate impact on their organizations.

"Workshops like this underscore the critical importance of leadership training," said Dr. David Jaeger, Coggin Executive Programs associate dean. "We are proud to support the development of our nation's public health leaders and help equip them with skills to navigate the complexities of today's healthcare landscape."

The USPHS Symposium meets in a different location each year and is co-sponsored by an agreement between the USPHS Commissioned Officers Foundation and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.
