Behind the 140 million tonnes of goods imported and exported every year through the Port of Vancouver is an entire community working to make it happen. Ranging from household goods such as your shoes to the Canadian grain shipped around the world, terminals and supply chain partners move a wide range of imported and exported goods to and from Canada.
This movement of goods through the port ensures items such as food, pharmaceuticals, clothing and essential products get to communities across the country. It also means Canadian products such as apples, wheat, and materials for manufacturing are accessible to those around the world.
The port connects Canadians and local businesses with up to 170 countries and is home to 29 major terminals, supporting trade across four sectors- containerized, bulk, break bulk and auto trade-and passengers through the Canada Place cruise terminal. Every year, port activities enable the trade of approximately $300 billion in goods and sustains 132,400 jobs across the country. It's all made possible through the dedicated efforts by member of the port community who collaborate to keep Canada's trade moving - including marine carriers and pilots, longshore workers, terminal operators, railway workers, trucking companies and drivers.
