To mark the first edition of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024, UNESCO encourages all States Parties and other stakeholders of the 2003 Convention to join the celebration by organising events and activities to showcase the diversity and richness of living heritage and to raise awareness of the importance of its safeguarding.

A vibrant participation from stakeholders has been observed, sharing their events and initiatives featured on the dedicated webpage and receiving the dedicated logo 'In Support of the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.' From local community celebrations and national media campaigns to international festivals, living heritage is being celebrated, bringing people together to share, learn, and enjoy.

In parallel, as UNESCO continues to explore future pathways for safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage, a webinar on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is organized on 17 October 2024, with the participation of global experts to discuss how AI is shaping the future of living heritage-and sustainable development as a whole.

This dynamic involvement reflects the active engagement of communities and cultural institutions around the world. It also underscores the global appreciation of the vital role intangible cultural heritage plays in humanity and emphasizes the need for its safeguarding for the future.
