State Investing More Than $520,000 for Roadwork Improvement Project

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) - As part of its ongoing effort to promote economic growth and improve communities, the Ohio Department of Development today announced the release of $523,026 through the Roadwork Development Grant (629) program.

The City of Cleveland (Cuyahoga County) will receive the funding in support of the Euclid Chemical Company project, which will include removing and replacing concrete pavement and base, adjusting catch basins, and installing traffic signage and pavement markings to allow for an increase in deliveries to the Euclid Chemical Company site.

The roadwork will consist of the reconstruction of approximately 1,000 linear feet of Redwood Road between Nottingham Road and Cochran Avenue, running in a north-south alignment. As a result of the project, with state assistance provided, 12 full-time-equivalent jobs will be created, and 117 jobs will be retained.

Roadwork Development grants are awarded for public roadwork improvements that support the expansion or attraction of businesses. Eligible costs include widening, paving, road construction and reconstruction, and right-of-way infrastructure improvements such as sewer or utility lines. Grantees must be a state agency, municipality, township, county, port authority, public airport, or other units of local or quasi-local governments such as Community Improvement Corporations, Community Development Corporations, or Community Urban Redevelopment Corporations formed pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code.
