Cooling Center Open Saturday (7/6) and Sunday (7/7)

The US National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an extended Excessive Heat Warning for a majority of the Bay Area, including Santa Rosa, through Wednesday evening, July 10, at 11 p.m. Based on the forecasted conditions, the City of Santa Rosa will open a cooling center at the Finley Community Center located at 2060 W. College Ave. on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The cooling center at Finley Community Center will offer limited space and accommodations and community members should be aware of the following:

  • Free Wi-Fi is available; books, games, and/or laptops and headphones are allowed. There is no TV available.
  • Food that is ready to eat is permissible; kitchen access will not be available.
  • Due to space limitations, each person is allowed only one small tote and daypack. The City of Santa Rosa is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Visitors must comply with the City's Standards of Behavior.
  • Only service animals will be permitted inside of the Cooling Center. No other animals or pets permitted.

In addition to the designated Cooling Center, the Recreation and Parks Department operates air-conditioned lobbies, two swim centers, and a spray ground in downtown Santa Rosa that are open to the public if residents need a place to cool off during the day, including:

  • Steele Lane Community Center - 415 Steele Lane - 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday (closed July 4)
  • Person Senior Wing - 2060 W. College Ave. - 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday (closed July 4)
  • Spray Ground at Prince Gateway Park - 171 Santa Rosa Ave. - 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily
  • Finley Aquatic Center - 2060 W. College Ave. - visit SRCity.org/Aquatics for Recreation Swim times and fees
  • Ridgway Swim Center - 455 Ridgway Ave. - visit SRCity.org/Aquatics for Recreation Swim times and fees
