Spotlight: Leading Lean Six Sigma Transformation

Spotlight: Leading Lean Six Sigma Transformation

July 29, 2024

We are pleased to recognize Rev Anbalagana and James Stephens for their success in helping the entire workforce at Berry's Goshen, IN site become Lean Six Sigma White Belt-Certified. Representing the start of an ambitious program to introduce White Belt Certifications across Berry's global operations, these are just a couple of the individuals at Berry helping to foster a culture of learning, growth, and continuous improvement.

Rev Anbalagan
Rev, a chemical engineer by trade, has dedicated her career to driving long-term, systemic change in the plastics manufacturing space. "When people believe in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and make the effort to learn and apply them, it becomes engrained in their activities," said Rev. "Lean and Six Sigma can pretty much solve 99% of problems that prevent organizations from being the best they can be. The methodologies may be technical in nature, but what they have in common is the ability to drive action. Well-thought-out action ultimately leads to progress and expansion of knowledge, and through this, continuous improvement is achieved. The spirit of continuous improvement is palpable at Goshen; everyone I meet is open to connecting, collaborating, and innovating, and this has created a culture of learning and growth."

James Stephens
James began his career as a Fighter Jet Crew Chief in the United States Air Force and has since used his organizational skills to make a difference in the plastics industry.
"The value of organization was ingrained in me from the age of 17 and has proven to be equally important in the commercial world," said James. "The main reason I love the lean culture so much is that it improves the working conditions for my team. They can complete their tasks much more safely and efficiently. Above all, the success of the Goshen Lean Six Sigma transformation is a result of dedicated team members who have embraced this project and continue to demonstrate the commitment and drive to ensure the plant is successful."

We congratulate Rev, James, and all One Berry team members who are paving the way for impactful influence. As we continue expanding Lean Six Sigma initiatives to other Berry facilities, their success in Goshen serves as a blueprint for future projects.
