Montgomery County Public Libraries to Host Creators of Popular ‘Dork Diaries’ Series for Free Presentation and Book Signing on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Gaithersburg Library

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL), in partnership with the Gaithersburg Book Festival and Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC), will welcome Rachel Renée Russell and Nikki Russell, the author-illustrator mother-daughter team behind the internationally acclaimed Dork Diaries series, to the Gaithersburg Library. The event, celebrating the 16th installment of the book series, will be held from 1:30-6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Rachel Renée Russell is the No. 1 New York Times best-selling author of Dork Diaries, a beloved series that follows the life and adventures of middle school student Nikki Maxwell and her friends. Her daughter, Nikki Russell, is the series' illustrator. Together, they have released 19 consecutive New York Times bestsellers. With more than 55 million books in print and translations into 42 languages, Dork Diaries has won numerous awards, including two Kids' Book Choice Awards and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Children.

This event is free, but advance registration is required, and space is limited. Registration opens at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Parents and caregivers must register and accompany children under age 8. The Gaithersburg Library is located at 18330 Montgomery Village Ave. in Gaithersburg,

The event will begin with book sales at 1:30 p.m. From 2-3 p.m., the Russells will discuss their creative process, followed by a question-and-answer session. Fans can meet the authors and have their books signed from 3-6 p.m. Only books purchased at the event will be eligible for signing.
