Pack your patience and follow official detours during US 101 bridge closure

During the US 101 Elwha Bridge closure, Olympic National Park visitors are encouraged to pack their patience and follow official detours to access park areas. State Routes 112 and 113 will provide access to Lake Crescent, Barnes Point, and all areas west of the Elwha River. The Black Diamond Road and Little River Road will offer access to the Madison Falls Trailhead.

Where street parking is allowed, vehicles cannot encroach onto park roadways; all four tires of a parked vehicle must be off the road. To ensure roads remain safe and open to emergency vehicles, parked vehicles that obstruct traffic may be towed. No parking is allowed outside of designated areas on East Beach Road. Vehicles must use existing pullouts that have adequate space.

On July 17, Olympic National Park will take advantage of reduced traffic on US 101 and remove litter along Lake Crescent. The busy stretch of highway does not normally allow park employees to safely remove the trash. Travelers will still be able to drive through the area during the cleanup project.
