TSTC names Mike Anderson as New Braunfels campus provost

(NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas) - Texas State Technical College has named Mike Anderson as provost of its New Braunfels campus.

"Mike Anderson is a seasoned educator and the founding executive in charge of our New Braunfels campus," TSTC Chancellor and CEO Mike Reeser said. "His leadership is a key reason why his campus is growing."

Anderson began working in education in 2006 as a track coach in Vermont and since has worked at numerous colleges and universities across the United States. He came to TSTC in 2023 from Portland, Oregon, where he served as senior vice president at Multnomah University.

"I have purposely taken jobs with startups to build up, and not only build well, but quickly," he said.

Anderson is a native of Schertz, Texas, a town 16 miles from New Braunfels. When he saw an opportunity to move back to Texas, he took it.

"I grew up driving through New Braunfels and always thought it would make a great college town," Anderson said. "Now here I am, turning it into a college town."

He holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Thomas Edison State University.

TSTC's New Braunfels campus is its newest.

In August 2023, TSTC partnered with the Texas Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (TX FAME) Lone Star Chapter to offer an Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Systems - Advanced Manufacturing Technology in New Braunfels. In that program, students work at supporting businesses to gain hands-on instruction within the workforce.

The campus's first student cohort began classes in fall 2023.

Additionally, the New Braunfels campus offers a level-one certificate in Industrial Systems - Electrical Specialization, as well as a certificate of completion in Structural Welding.

Registration continues for the fall semester at TSTC. For more information, go totstc.edu.
