With the passage of Act No. 2023-517 during the 2023 Legislative Session, minimum compensation increased for poll workers statewide. The Baldwin County Commission, on February 6, 2024, approved incorporating that increase in the total compensation for poll workers for statewide and local county elections in Baldwin County.

Poll workers are essential to the democratic process and ensuring that the rights of eligible voters are protected. There are 59 polling places throughout Baldwin County, staffed by civic-minded individuals during elections. Having an adequate number of poll workers to staff polling places on election day ensures voters receive the assistance they need at the polls. Serving as a poll worker is an amazing opportunity to learn more about the election process while contributing to your local community.

Pay for poll workers varies by responsibility: Clerks earn $175.00, Chief Clerks earn $185.00, and Inspectors earn $200.00 for service on election day.

Requirements for poll workers:

•Must be a registered voter in the State of Alabama.

•Must be registered to vote in the county in which they desire to act as a poll worker.

•Must attend a mandatory poll worker training. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

•Cannot be a member of a candidate's immediate family or the second degree of kinship, and cannot be a member of a candidate's political committee.
