Auto Club: Gas Prices Slightly Increase Statewide

Gas prices in Southern California moved up slightly ahead following the busy holiday travel weekend but are still well below prices at this time last year, according to the Auto Club's Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.75, which is ten cents higher than a week ago. The average national price is $3.24, which is six cents lower than a week ago.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.61 per gallon, which is one cent more than last week and 96 cents less than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.70, which is three cents higher than last week and 84 cents lower than this time last year.

On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.70, which is one cent higher than last week and 78 cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.49, which is the same as last week and 95 cents lower than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.64 average price is three cents less than last week and 68 cents lower than a year ago today.

"Gas prices are slightly increasing statewide, coming out of Labor Day weekend however prices remain steady in most cities," said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe.
