Workplace Recycling Regulations for Businesses in Wales

Posted 30 October 2024|0 Comments

The Workplace Recycling Regulations came into force in Wales on the 6th of April 2024 and apply to all non-domestic premises.

Under these regulations, the following materials must be presented separately for collection, collected separately, and kept separate after collection:

  • Food waste
  • Glass
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Metals and cartons
  • Unsold textiles
  • Unsold small waste electrical and electronic equipment

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) are regulating the Workplace Recycling Regulations by undertaking compliance assessments at non-domestic premises in different sectors to ensure compliance with the law and to provide advice and support on how to comply with the regulations.

A Workplace Recycling Regulations webpage is available on the NRW website. This webpage provides information about the regulations and is intended to help you understand how the regulations apply to you, how to separate your waste according to the regulations, and guidance for complying with the new regulations.

The webpage also provides further information on how we will perform our regulatory duties, and what records you must keep to demonstrate compliance and links to further resources such as the Welsh Government's Code of Practice.

You can access the webpage by clicking here.

WRAP have also produced useful resources and sector specific guidance for non-domestic premises which can accessed by clicking here.
