Severe Weather from Hurricane Helene

The National Weather Service has placed Volusia County under a Tropical Storm Warning, Tornado Watch, and Flood Watch.
Wind and rain have already begun to affect the area, with conditions expected to worsen throughout the day. Significant impacts are anticipated by early this afternoon, with the most severe weather expected to pass by early tomorrow morning.
Sustained winds could reach up to 35 mph, with occasional gusts of up to 60 mph. Rainfall amounts are forecasted to range from 1 to 3 inches, with localized higher amounts possible. Marine conditions are also deteriorating, increasing the risk and intensity of rip currents.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates closely, as the storm's speed, path, and potential impacts could change. Once conditions deteriorate, travel should be limited to essential needs only, and residents are advised to avoid roads with standing water.
The Volusia County Emergency Operations Center has activated to Level I today as it prepares for Hurricane Helene's impacts.
