New Fiscal Year Budget

Adopted by the City Council at its June 4 meeting, the Fiscal Year 2025 budget has two primary components - a $32.9 million operating budget and a $13.9 million capital improvement program.

The operating budget provides funding for the day-to-day operations of providing services, whereas the capital improvement program covers significant expenses related to the purchase of items or maintenance and improvement work done to city facilities, parks and roads.

As in previous years, public safety remains the single largest expenditure, totaling approximately $9.4 million and representing more than 28% of the operation budget. The second largest operating expenditure, totaling $6.8 million, is in the Public Works

Department, which is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of City-owned buildings, facilities and parks, as well as city roads, public right-of-ways and landscaped areas, storm drains, and all traffic system components.

Among the seven projects that will be funded through the capital improvement program is the Diamond Bar Boulevard Complete Street Project that will take place between Golden Springs Drive and the SR 60 freeway. The project will enhance the appearance of this area, create a safer and more comfortable experience for pedestrians and bicyclists through sidewalk improvements and enhanced bicycle lanes, and install landscaping elements to more effectively manage stormwater runoff.
