Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Lee Jaewoong
November 5, 2024 14:45 KST
Good afternoon. Let me start today's briefing.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun will deliver a keynote speech at the International Conference on ASEAN-Korea Partnership to be organized by the ASEAN-Korea Centre on Thursday, November 7.
ASEAN-ROK relations have made remarkable progress over the past 35 years, with trade increasing 23-fold, investment 80-fold, and people-to-people exchanges 37-fold.
Additionally, at the 25th ASEAN-ROK Summit to Commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Dialogue Relations held in Lao PDR last month, the two sides established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is the highest level of partnership.
In his keynote speech, Vice Minister Kim will introduce the vision for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership which delves in all areas, including political-security, economy, and socio-cultural affairs. He will also present concrete ways the two sides can work together to develop meaningful, substantive, and mutually-beneficial relations over the next 35 years.
In addition, Vice Minister Kim will bring ASEAN's attention to the recent provocations by North Korea and the illegal military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, and request ASEAN's continued attention and support for the 'August 15 Unification Doctrine.'
