Warning: fraudulent deepfake videos online

The Bank of Italy warns the public of the continued existence online of deepfake videos that artificially replicate the image and voice of the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Fabio Panetta, to convey and make more credible fake messages intended to deceive the public.

As previously communicated on 22 May, none of these videos have been authorized by the Bank of Italy.

Therefore, if you encounter such content, it is recommended that you:

• disregard the message;
• not follow any requests made in the videos;
• avoid sharing it, so as to not help spread it.
