Build a new career in construction at Barlby Road

Are you interested in kicking off a career in construction by helping to build brand-new homes right here in Kensington and Chelsea?

The Hill Group is the main contractor on our new homes site at Barlby Road and is looking for apprentices in various trades to start on site in the coming months.

Applicants can choose to specialise in bricklaying, scaffolding, plumbing or becoming an electrician and will get to learn their trade as they help to construct 83 homes and facilities including a multi-use sports hall in the heart of North Kensington.

Cllr Sof McVeigh, Lead Member for Housing at Kensington and Chelsea Council, said:

"Our new homes programme has been making great progress, with 90 high-quality homes delivered so far, and we're really excited to be adding 83 more homes and other community facilities at Barlby Road.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in construction to learn a valuable hands-on trade and play a direct role in delivering much-needed housing in the heart of the borough."

Oscar McGuinness, an apprentice site manager at Barlby Road, said:

"At Barlby Road, we've got apprentice plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers, scaffolders, electricians - all of the internal and external trades you can think of.

"Hill are a great company. They really look after their trainees, from when you first start to when you graduate, and the team at Barlby Road are a great bunch who all work well together. It's a really positive and happy environment and I recommend it to anyone."

Barlby Road is one of the sites included in Phase 2 of the Council's New Homes Programme and will provide 83 new homes including 38 homes for social rent and 10 for key workers. The development includes a multi-use sports hall and a flexible studio unit for hire.
