Theresa Bogard
The University of Wyoming Department of Music Faculty Recital Series presents "Saudades Do Brasil," featuring UW Professor Theresa Bogard, piano, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

The program will feature music for piano by Brazilian composers, including "Valsa de Esquina" No. 2 in B minor by Francisco Mignone; "Nocturno," Op. 10 by Leopoldo Miguez; "Nocturne," Op. 6 No. 1 by Henrique Oswald; and "Ciclo Brasileiro" by Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Bogard, a Steinway Artist, is a versatile performer dedicated to expanding the canon of traditional piano repertoire, especially focusing on performing works by women and other lesser-known composers.

A world traveler with a passion for other cultures, Bogard has performed throughout the U.S. and in 16 countries on five continents. Her extensive discography includes recordings ranging from solo piano to chamber music collaborations, from music of living composers to her specialty in fortepiano and historical performance practice.

She received a coveted Fulbright grant that supported her study of historical performance practice and fortepiano at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands. That same year, she was a top prize-winner in the International Mozart Fortepiano Competition in Bruges, Belgium.

Bogard has served on the faculty of the InterHarmony International Music Festival in Italy and the Sulzbach-Rosenberg International Music Festival in Bavaria, Germany. She has performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and the Ravinia Steans Music Institute with cellist Misha Quint. Internationally known as a pedagogue, she has been honored with numerous teaching awards.
