Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine's El Dorado Nature Center will host the Third Annual Howl-o-ween Festival on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, from 2 to 6 p.m. at El Dorado Nature Center (7550 E. Spring St.). This family-friendly event will bring the community together in the spirit of Halloween and highlight the resources and services offered at El Dorado Nature Center.

"The Howl-o-Ween Festival is great opportunity for our community to come together and enjoy some spooky fun at our beautiful El Dorado Nature Center," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "From trick-or-treating along the trails, to animal displays and storytelling, everyone who attends will find something to get into the Halloween spirit."

Residents of all ages will enjoy a hare-raising trick-or-treating adventure through the Nature Center trails, bounce houses at the Ohhh-possum Patch, spine-tingling tales from South Coast Storytellers, face painting and arts and crafts. The event will also feature an animal education village, where attendees will have the opportunity to see and learn about animals up close. Spooky snacks will also be available for purchase at onsite food trucks.

While this is a family-friendly event where costumes are encouraged, four-legged furry friends should be left at home. Parking for the event is free and a $5 donation per entry to Partners of Parks Friends of El Dorado Nature Center is encouraged.

"I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at this year's fun Howl-o-ween Festival," said Fourth District Councilman Daryl Supernaw. "The creative El Dorado Nature Center staff and volunteers always go all-out to decorate the trails and plan the festive activities that engage all ages."

The Howl-o-Ween Festival is an annual Halloween event that started in 2022. The event showcases the work being done by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine, raises awareness on its various services and resources and celebrates the Halloween spirit.
