More than 200 students were honored for their outstanding academic achievement, exceptional leadership, and impactful community engagement at Baruch College's annual Student Achievement Awards on May 8.

At the event, 223 awards were bestowed to 203 undergraduates and graduate students representing Baruch's three schools: the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, and Zicklin School of Business.

President S. David W, who kicked off the celebration, commended the honorees for excelling in their majors and co-curricular activities.

"The extensive scope of the awards is a testament to our students' drive and energy - you truly personify being 'unstoppable,' President Wu said. "We are proud of how each of you, no matter your background and challenges, is discovering your own passion that allows you to be great in what you do.

"I know you will make our world a better place as you continue Baruch's tradition of excellence, whether in academic, professional, or community arenas."

Before the presentation of awards, Class of 2024 Salutatorian Staci Steinfeld addressed her fellow students.

"By attending Baruch, our education, intelligence, and skills are equal to those from other universities," remarked Steinfeld, who will earn a BS in public affairs with minors in psychology and law and policy and is pursuing a career in legislative affairs "In fact, we will graduate with an advantage over other students. Ultimately, we are the ones who understand hard work and dedication.

She added, "We are the students who recognize true diversity. We are the ones who experience economic and social mobility. We are the graduates who have real experiences before we even graduate. Our schooling is unparalleled, which is why we end up working for and leading the same companies as graduates from more well-known schools."
