Burn Ban Issued for Jasper County Effective October 2, 2024

On October 2, 2024, the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office received a request from Jamey Robinson, on behalf of all fire departments within Jasper County, to prohibit open burning due to dangerous fire conditions. Upon investigation, the Fire Marshal determined that current conditions in Jasper County pose a danger to life and property, making open burning unsafe.

As a result, a burn ban has been issued, effective October 2, 2024, at 4:00 PM. No open burning is allowed within Jasper County, except for those instances specifically permitted under Iowa Code 100.40(3). This ban will remain in place until conditions improve, and Jamey Robinson notifies the State Fire Marshal that the risk has passed.

Please note that any violation of this proclamation order is considered a simple misdemeanor under Iowa Code 100.40(2). For more information or specific inquiries regarding exceptions, contact local fire departments or the Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office. Stay safe and avoid any activities that could cause a fire during these hazardous conditions.
