World Biofuel Day

10 August 2024 is World Biofuel Day: ICGEB New Delhi holds dedicated lectures, demonstrations, and discussions with a focus on advanced biofuels and carbon capture.

Aimed at showcasing the advancements in biofuels and carbon capture technologies, ICGEB India organised a special event bringing together students, researchers, and experts to discuss the emergence and opportunities in advanced biofuels as a contribution to the global and Indian national target of Net Zero CO2 emissions.

A keynote address was delivered by guest speaker, Shri Ramakrishna YB, former Chairman and current Member Expert of the Working Group on Biofuels, Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, entitled "Emerging policy ecosystem in India for advanced biofuels and opportunities towards achieving Net Zero by 2070", providing an outline of current policy framework and the future of biofuels in India.

Two short films produced by ICGEB were released, underlining the institution's research efforts for biofuels and carbon capture for a sustainable future. Transforming biomass into biofuels is a crucial area of research with immense potential for reducing carbon emissions.

Students from top colleges of Delhi University and Kendriya Vidyalaya schools had the opportunity to interact with leading scientists at ICGEB on biofuel and carbon capture research. Students were also involved in live demonstrations showcasing the practical aspects of biofuel production and carbon capture technologies - to engage and inspire young minds in the quest for a sustainable and green future.
