NJIT's Center for Educational Innovation and Excellence to Drive Teaching, Learning Advancement

As part of NJIT's Strategic Plan 2030, the university is excited to announce the launch of the Center for Educational Innovation and Excellence (CEIE), a pivotal initiative designed to enhance teaching practices and learning outcomes. The CEIE will replace the Institute for Teaching Excellence (ITE), which has long served as NJIT's primary resource for faculty professional development in pedagogy and educational technology.

The CEIE is an expansive evolution of the ITE, broadening its mandate to foster innovative pedagogical methods, support the integration of advanced educational technologies and promote impactful research in teaching and learning. The center will now include dedicated, full-time staff to collaborate with academic departments across NJIT to provide faculty, instructors and academic support staff with the resources needed to enhance student success and transform curricula.

Nikki Bosca, an NJIT staff member for over eight years, has been named as the inaugural director of the CEIE. She previously served as associate director for Online Teaching and Course Development in the Office of Online Programs, in addition to holding the role of associate director for the ITE. Bosca, who is completing her Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning at the University at Buffalo, brings a passion for teaching excellence and student achievement to her new role. The CEIE will continue ITE's programming this fall, with a formal transition set for the spring semester and a kickoff event planned for January.

"The launch of the Center for Educational Innovation and Excellence is a significant step forward in fulfilling the goals of NJIT's Strategic Plan 2030," said John A. Pelesko, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. "The CEIE will be instrumental in supporting our faculty as they continue to implement innovative learning frameworks and harness the power of educational technology to support the success of our students."

The CEIE will serve as a collaborative hub for faculty and staff looking to implement innovative teaching strategies, redesign courses or integrate technology to improve student outcomes. A website with additional resources, including event announcements and scheduling tools, is set to launch soon.
