The Center for Global Education and Fellowships is excited for students to explore study abroad options and to dive deeper into making a global experience a reality while at Salve Regina.

Students are invited to learn more about the many options available at the annual study abroad fair, which will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, from 3-5 p.m. in the Great Hall of Ochre Court. Light refreshments and international small bites will be served, and free foldable bags will be available for student attendees as long as supplies last.

Study abroad alumni who have participated in a program will be on hand to share their insights and answer questions about their time abroad. Visiting students from many of Salve's exchange partners will also be present to share experiences from their home country.

Registration for the event is preferred but not required.

Studying abroad gives students a unique chance to explore new perspectives - both academically and personally. Being immersed in a foreign culture fosters lasting friendships, broadens worldviews, and helps students adapt to new customs and ways of life.

"This is an opportunity you will never have again in your life. Visiting a country for a vacation is one thing, but being able to live as a local for four to six months is surreal," said Kayla Brundage '25, a psychology major who attended the University of the Sunshine Coast in Sippy Downs, Australia. "The people you meet and the friendships you make while abroad are lifelong because this experience is once in a lifetime."

Through the University's vast program options, students can study in over 30 countries across all major continents. For the fall semester, students are studying around the world in Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, England, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, Spain and Sweden.

"Due to consecutive years of increased study abroad fair attendance and continued strong participation in our informational sessions, we're seeing the international experiences at Salve show growth in some of our traditional programs and expand into even more countries in our portfolio of offerings," said Joe Meringolo, assistant director of the Center for Global Education and Fellowships.

Experiential learning abroad can be achieved through coursework, international service learning and internships for academic credit in a variety of programs across the globe. All majors and classes can find a program - including short-term, semester-long or full academic year - that matches the personal interests, educational goals and professional ambitions of each student.

"There is a program for everyone, and the staff members in the Center for Global Education and Fellowships are all so helpful and organized that the process was seamless. Everyone was supportive every step of the way and made an otherwise overwhelming leap of faith seem simple, easy and straightforward," said Brundage.

The deadline for spring semester study abroad programs is Tuesday, October 1, and deadlines for short-term options vary by program. For more information, students may visit the Global Salve Resource Hub.
