James R. Anderson Scholarship Recipient Announced

Mallory Steele, Cougar Village resident at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 - 2025 James R. Anderson Housing Scholarship.

Steele hails from Pacific, Mo. and is entering her third year as a Speech Language Pathology major. After graduation she is hoping to attend a graduate program to pursue a master's degree. With her degrees, Steele hopes to work with stroke patients and those with traumatic brain injuries.

The James R. Anderson scholarship is given annually to an academically motivated student, with a GPA. of 3.0 or higher, who has demonstrated civic leadership in community service and Housing activities.

"I am incredibly grateful to be selected for this scholarship and would like to thank all those involved in the process. This opportunity will help me continue pursuing my academic aspirations at SIUE," said Steele.

The James R. Anderson Housing Scholarship Award was created in memory of Anderson, a former associate director of University Housing at SIUE. Recipients are granted a $1000 per semester scholarship.
