Ellis Road Improvement Project to Begin August 19

An improvement project is scheduled to start the morning of August 19 on Ellis Road between Edgewood Road and Covington Road. This section of Ellis Road will be closed to all traffic. A detour will be posted (PDF). The project is expected to last until November.

Linn County and the City of Cedar Rapids are working together on the improvement project, which includes new asphalt paving, culvert replacements, and improved drainage. It also includes paved shoulders and new guardrails for increased safety. The guardrail portion of the project is funded by a Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) Grant.

Motorists are reminded to comply with all traffic signs around construction projects. Do not drive around the barricades in place to protect the public and road crews.
