The Fort Worth City Council has voted to select Jay Chapa as the next City Manager, ushering in a new chapter of leadership for our city. With over 25 years of professional experience, the majority of which has been with the City of Fort Worth, Jay Chapa is uniquely equipped to guide the city forward.

The process to select the new City Manager included a national search which attracted over 150 applicants, reflecting Fort Worth's reputation as a desirable place for top-tier professionals to serve. The City Council narrowed the pool to 14 vetted candidates, five of whom were interviewed in depth.
Chapa will lead Fort Worth, which has been named the fastest-growing large city in the United States. Fort Worth has a dynamic economy, rich cultural heritage, and a strong commitment to community development.
After the City Council's selection of Chapa, Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said, "With Jay Chapa at the helm, the city is poised to build on its successes and tackle future challenges with confidence and determination, continuing to create opportunities for all who call Fort Worth home."
Jay Chapa begins his position on Monday, Jan. 27, to allow for a smooth transition with the current City Manager, David Cooke.
