Cape Coral Earns Silver Designation for Workplace Mental Health Efforts

August 1, 2024

The City of Cape Coral's Human Resources Department earned the Silver Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA). This national certification recognizes employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces for their employees.

The Bell Seal is the first of its kind in the United States, with silver being one of four levels, along with bronze, gold, and platinum.

The certification evaluates organizations on their internal policies and practices affecting workers' well-being, including culture, benefits, compliance, and wellness programs.

"This award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to our employees' mental health and well-being," said Nancy Deutsch, Human Resources Director for the City of Cape Coral. "We believe that investing in our employees' mental health is not only beneficial for their overall health and productivity but also the right thing to do."

MHA's Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health was introduced in 2019 to acknowledge employers who understand the importance of addressing mental health at work. In 2024, only 40 percent of the 949 employers that completed the pre-survey qualified for certification. The City of Cape Coral is proud to be recognized at the silver level for its commitment to supporting a mentally healthy workforce.
