Graham Statement After Aiken Briefing On Hurricane Helene

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) attended a briefing in Aiken with state and local officials at the Aiken County Emergency Management Center. Following the briefing, he spoke with a representative from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and a Dominion Energy representative for South Carolina.

"I just spoke to a FEMA representative. They assured me that FEMA representatives would be coming to Aiken County and the Savannah River area no later than tomorrow to ensure their needs are met. It is imperative that FEMA hear directly from Aiken County and Savannah River area officials what they need because the county was devastated.

"I also just spoke to a Dominion Energy representative for South Carolina, and he indicated that there will be a surge of linemen and power assistance coming to Aiken County and the Savannah River area beginning tomorrow.

"I stressed how terribly this part of the state has been hit and they agreed it was historic devastation. Crews from other parts of the state including the coast are on their way.

"I appreciate FEMA and Dominion responding to my requests and the needs of Aiken County and the Savannah River area."
