Regular yard waste size and weight restrictions are waived.

As people begin cleaning up from Hurricane Helene, there are some important guidelines on how to place your debris for pickup.

Important note: This information is only for areas in unincorporated Alachua County. If you live in one of the municipalities in the county, please contact your city waste pickup provider for specific information on debris pickup.

After conducting initial damage assessments throughout the area, Alachua County will be activating their disaster debris contractors to assist in the collection of storm debris from Hurricane Helene.

Please follow the below rules when placing yard waste curbside:

  • Regular yard waste size and weight restrictions are waived.
  • Do not place yard waste in plastic bags.
  • Place all debris on the curb, not in the street. Do not block traffic or street access.
  • Do not place debris on or near utility boxes, utility lines, cable lines, telephone lines, or other obstructions.

Be aware of infrastructure below the ground as well as above.

Disaster Debris contractors do not operate on the traditional waste collection schedules. Please be patient as they progress through the community.
