Even though he graduated less than a decade ago, Benjamin Hendershott '15 Is a veteran volunteer; frequently returning to campus for events such as the ZIPD Conference, Husky Dog Pound, and Career Intensive Bootcamp.

The Finance/Economics major cites the many alumni who helped him become a professional as the reason he volunteers, and the growth he sees in students as one of the highlights.

"I am always amazed at the level of professionalism each year," said Hendershott, who now an investment officer with Sageworth Trust Company. "I recall when I was a student [and] give back as much as I can because I know how valuable the alumni support was for me. The development of students from freshman to senior year makes the effort worth it."

Hendershott says that it took him some time to become confident not only with his skillset, but how to present that skillset to employers. One piece of advice he gives to students is to get involved, be patient, and never sell themselves short.

"It took me a while before I could confidently say I felt 'prepared', [and] my confidence came when I fully developed my resume," explained Hendershott. "It's really important to reiterate with students that they are just as qualified as their Ivy League peers and the quality of their education is just as good."

Hendershott's impact on his fellow Huskies goes beyond advice and inspiration. He recently hired a Bloomsburg grad at his firm and provided that first big step from college student to confident professional.

"He is doing very well and performing at a high level," said Hendershott. "I couldn't be happier with the quality of students Bloom produces. When they get their first job, they will sit in the same training rooms as Harvard graduates."
