City of Sparks to Rename Fire Station 5 in Honor of Richard Feldman

SPARKS, NV - The City of Sparks will honor the legacy of Richard Feldman by renaming Fire Station 5 during a ceremony on Wednesday, September 25, at 4:30 p.m. The renaming ceremony will take place at Sparks Fire Station 5, 6490 Vista Blvd. in Sparks. Richard's wife, children, and extended family will be in attendance, and the public is invited to attend.

Richard Feldman joined the Sparks Fire Department on July 6, 1987, following in the footsteps of his father, who served with the Chino Fire Department in Southern California. Over his 27-year career, Feldman made significant contributions to the department. He was promoted to Fire Apparatus Operator in 1995 and actively participated in various departmental activities.

Feldman was a member of the Regional Hazardous Materials Team and played an integral role as an original member of the Technical Rescue Team. He also served as a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) fit test technician. Feldman retired from the Sparks Fire Department in 2014. He passed away in 2020, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the Sparks community.

"The renaming of Fire Station 5 is part of the City of Sparks Fire Department's initiative to honor distinguished firefighters," said Fire Chief Walt White. "In addition to Richard Feldman, Fire Station 6 will be dedicated to Mike Foster, whose contributions to the department will be celebrated in a future ceremony."

Parking is limited at the station, but additional parking is available nearby.
